about
'Mechromania' is the first album release from Dave Datalayer. The title describes the sound and the making of the album: mechanised, computerised guitar and rhythms with human elements (samples include family, friends and London sounds). The recording, mixing and artwork was done on a diy budget over a few years. Home studios in London were used with some bits tracked in the countryside. The album was kick-started after I switched from 4-track tape recording to using computers. To me the album reflects some aspects of modern city life in a digital form.
